but I think it will have to wait until tomorrow night. This weekend was busy, but fun, and now I'm enjoying just hanging out. I got to spend it doing lots of dancing and spending time with family and friends. Good stuff. And I meant to bake for a coworkers birthday, but I just don't have it in me. I think she'll understand.
My sleep schedule for this weekend:
Friday night: asleep 4am awake 12 noon
Saturday: asleep 4pm awake 9pm
Saturday night: asleep 4am awake 9am
So It got so screwed up that I think it came back around to being normal!
So far my weekend has been going pretty well. Saturday I went to the Scottish Games in Pleasanton to see men in kilts throwing large objects, men in kilts playing bagpipes and drums, and well, men in kilts. I also got to see the herding competitions, where the border collies herd sheep. Just like int Babe! It's great.
Yesterday, was spent mostly preparing for my final project for school, but I got a surprise invite to the dog park and got to watch Emma, a very cute Tibetan terrier puppy, play with the other dogs. There's lots of drama at the dog park! Running, chasing, barking, a little fighting, and a lot of doggy personality. Then more walking the Emma.
And today, more Emma! Dan's having a BBQ, so there will be lots of people, food, and excitement for puppy. Man, I wish I could have a dog.
I saw the Rock the Bells show in SF yesterday and it was fantastic. Booboolina came with me and we got there during Public Enemy, then saw Cypress Hill, Wutang Clan and finally Rage Against the Machine. Rage was probably the most high energy performance I've ever seen, even though we were too far back to actually see them and had to rely on screens instead. It would've been nice to have been closer, but in a crowd of 45,000, I was OK hanging out in back. I can only imagine what it was like up front.
Then, after that we headed over to Voda for some vodka drinks, dancing and conversation. I had a Madras, a 90 Punch, and a mandarin and 7-Up (yum!) along with some Fig Newtons to stave off the hunger. By the end of the night I was very tired but satisfied with a great day.
Today was nice and relaxing. I slept in, met up with Dan and Emma and ran some errands, and back to the homestead for some file management, the movie 12 Blocks starring Mos Def (to continue my hip hop weekend) and some chilling out. Very satisfying indeed.
So I've been kinda sick for most of the weekend and haven't done a whole lot, but I got a whole lotta sleep!
On Friday, I went a Mexican pizza-popcorn-movie night on Friday and watched Winter Sleepers. It was an interesting movie, but the ending left me somewhat dissatisfied (I won't give it away.) After an evening of homemade pizzas, Wisconsin popcorn and playing with kittenss, I went home.
And I slept and slept and slept, for a good 12 hours (being kinda sick and all). I had been fighting it off all week and it was wiping me out. There were times I felt I was going to fall asleep at my desk. So I was very happy to get some rest. But apparently it was not enough.
After a day of rest on Saturday, skipping Friday Night Waltz, I went to a friend's BBQ on Sunday, which also was very fun. But sleep is the theme of the weekend, and today I actually slept for a full 15 and a half hours! I woke up many, many times, and could've gotten up each of those times, but something told me to keep still and soon a few more hours would pass. I can't even believe it's already after 5:00. I still need to do laundry, and clean up a bit, but it feels good to have gotten so much rest. While I still have a scratchy throat, I feel a lot better.
What are your weekend plans?
I actually already did my one planned event, which was going to the Oakland Art Murmur last night. It's a bunch of art galleries in Oakland (go Oakland!) that coordinate their openings on the first Friday of every month. And it was quite the party! Tons of people (sometimes too many for my tastes), a little wine, and lots of "art". Some good, some really crappy (and I mean *really*), but certainly worth the trip out.
Now I'm just watching Best Week ever and laughing outloud every minute or so. I'm going to do some cleaning, do some reading for school, and some relaxing after my crazy week. Nice.
